Description

Changes the current resolution and/or color depth settings on the specified display device (video card).

Practical Usage

Example 1: Change the resolution back to a standard setting so that mouse click pixel coordinates would match system conditions and the time a task was created.

Example 2: Create a task that quickly switches the resolution at the press of a hot-key or other trigger.

Parameters

General Tab

Display Device

Text, Optional (default: Primary)
MARKUP: DISPLAY="3dfx Voodoo Series"

Specifies the display device should be acted upon. This parameter is required and especially useful for multi-monitor systems. In visual mode, for convenience, a drop down is displayed showing the available display devices that are installed on your system. If left blank, acts on the primary display device.

Color Depth

Number, Optional
MARKUP: COLORS="32"

Specifies the color depth (in bits) to change to. If left blank the color depth remains the same. In visual mode, for convenience, a drop down is displayed showing the available color depth settings for the currently specified display device.

Display Frequency

Number, Optional
MARKUP: FREQ="70"

Specifies the frequency (in Hz) to change to. If left blank the frequency remains the same. In visual mode, for convenience, a drop down is displayed showing the available frequency settings for the currently specified display device.

Caution! Specifying a frequency that is not supported by your monitor could damage it!

Width

Number, Optional
MARKUP: WIDTH="800"

Specifies the width (in pixels) that the resolution should be changed to. If left blank the width remains the same. In visual mode, for convenience, a drop down is displayed showing the available width settings for the currently specified display device. A supported corresponding "Height" parameter must also be selected for proper functioning. In visual mode use the slider control and the "Test" button to determine proper values for both parameters.

Height

Number, Optional
MARKUP: HEIGHT="600"

Specifies the height (in pixels) that the resolution should be changed to. If left blank the width remains the same. In visual mode, for convenience, a drop down is displayed showing the available height settings for the currently specified display device. A supported corresponding "Width" parameter must also be selected for proper functioning. In visual mode use the slider control and the "Test" button to determine proper values for both parameters.

Notes

Provided Resolution Selection Slider

The "Less/More" slider is available in visual mode to assist in selecting width height combinations that are supported by the display device specified in the "Display Device" parameter. Use of this slider control is recommended in selecting resolutions.

Provided "Test" button

The Test button allows a given resolution/frequency/color-depth setting to be tested before being added to a task. It also provides the user with an automatic switchback mechanism if the user does not respond within 15 seconds in case the display is unreadable using the settings. Use of the test button before using this action in a task is recommended.
