Setting Task Security

AutoMateā„¢ contains many features aimed at security throughout the application. Each task can be individually password protected to prevent modification or viewing of its properties in a multi-user environment.

You can also protect the task from being launched manually through the Task Manager, a feature useful for time-sensitive task launching. For additional security a task can also be encrypted, so that it cannot be opened in Task Builder without entering a password to unencrypt it. All passwords are 128 bit encrypted.

To set task security:

  1. From the Task Administrator window, open the Managed Task Properties dialog box by selecting the task and clicking Properties or right-click the task and select Properties from the right-click menu.

  2. Click the Security tab. A dialog appears as shown below:

  1. Enter your selections as follows:

    1. Select Password protect this task.

    2. Enter the password in both boxes. Passwords can include any keyboard character and can be from 1 to 25 characters long.

    3. Select one or more events that require the password. The selections are:

    4. If you want to encrypt the task, click the Encrypt button, and then enter and confirm the password. You can use the same password you entered for the task properties, or enter a different password for the encryption.  

  2. Click OK to save settings.
