Setting an SNMP Trap Trigger

Overview

An SNMP Trap trigger is used to trigger a task on receipt of an SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) trap. You can enter various filters to limit the watch to specific addresses or types. Additional technical information about this trigger can be found here.

To Set an SNMP Trap Trigger:

  1. Open the SNMP Trap trigger properties dialog box per Setting Triggers.

  2. In the General tab, enter your specifications according to the following guidelines: Under Agent IP address, Community, Enterprise OID, and Trap generic type, you can use the default any or select from the drop-down list to indicate a specific selection. When you select the specific option, additional boxes are enabled for you to enter the specifications.

  3. If you do not want to use string notation for OIDs or timetick values, click the Data tab and clear the applicable check boxes.

  4. If you want the condition to be met more than once before the task is triggered, click the Behavior tab, enable the option Trigger after the condition has been met and select the desired amount.

  5. When you have finished entering all specifications, click OK.
