The Merge XML Files action is used to merge two XML files together into a new XML file. You can use an XPath expression to specify the insertion point in the host file. If no specification is made, the merged file will be appended. You can also use an XPath expression to specify a node offset for the merged file.
From the Task Builder Available Actions pane, open the XML folder and double-click the Merge XML Files action or drag it into the Steps pane.
In the File 1 box, click the Open Folder button , navigate to the XML file that will be the host of the merging operation, and click Open.
In the File 2 box, click the Open Folder button , navigate to the XML file that will be merged into File 1, and click Open.
In the Output file box, click the Open Folder button , navigate to the location for the new file, enter a file name, and click Save.
If you want to overwrite any existing file that matches the output file, select Overwrite if file exists. If this is not selected, the step will fail if the output file already exists.
Optional: in the XPath expression 1 box, enter an expression to specify the location in File 1 where File 2 should be merged. If no specification is given, the file will be appended.
Optional: in the XPath expression 2 box, enter an expression to specify a node and child nodes to be the offset for the merging file.
To set the Description tab properties, refer to Description Tab Options.
