Extract XML Fragment Action—Setting Properties

The Extract XML Fragment action is used to extract a node structure from an XML file and save it to a new file. You enter an XPath expression to specify the location of the fragment.

To set Extract XML Fragment properties

  1. From the Task Builder Available Actions pane, open the XML folder and double-click the Extract XML Fragment action or drag it into the Steps pane.

  2. In the File box, click the Open Folder button , navigate to the desired document, and click Open.

  3. In the XPath expression box, enter the expression to specify the location of the fragment.

  4. In the Output File box, click the Open Folder button , navigate to the desired document, and click Save.

  5. In the Root node name for output box, enter the name for the root node in the new file.

  6. If you want to overwrite any existing file that matches the output file, select Overwrite if file exists. If this is not selected, an existing file of the same name and location specified for the output file would cause the step to fail.

  7. To set the Description tab properties, refer to Description Tab Options.

  8. To set the Error Causes and On Error tab properties, refer to Step Error Handling.

  9. When finished, click OK to save settings and close the properties dialog window.
