The Pad Text action is used to add a specified character to a selected text block and to populate a variable with the result. The variable must be created in an earlier step using the Create Variable action.
Only a single character is used, but it can be added to the text as many times as specified or as many times as needed to result in a given length for the text block. Characters can be added to the beginning or the end of the text or both.
From the Task Builder Available Actions pane, open the Text folder and double-click the Pad Text action or drag it into the Steps pane.
In the Text to pad box, enter the target text to be padded. To enter a variable or dataset, click the Insert Expression/Variable button and use the Expression Builder to insert it.
In the Pad box, select Beginning, End, or Beginning and End.
In the Character to pad with box, enter the character to use to pad the text.
In the Padding type box, select Until text is a specific length or A specific number of times. Then enter the length or the number of times in the corresponding box. If the Length of text entry is less than the existing text, no characters are added, but the existing text is not truncated.
In the Populate variable with result box, select the variable to populate.
To set the Description tab properties, refer to Description Tab Options.
