Get Subtext Action—Setting Properties

The Get Subtext action is used to retrieve a set of characters or block of text from a larger body of text and to place the result into a variable. The variable must be created in an earlier step using the Create Variable action.

To set Get Subtext properties

  1. From the Task Builder Available Actions pane, open the Text folder and double-click the Get Subtext action or drag it into the Steps pane.

  2. In the Original text box, enter the target text. To enter a variable or dataset, click the Insert Expression/Variable button and use the Expression Builder to insert it.

  3. In the Starting position box, enter the index position from which you want to begin retrieving text.

  4. In the Length of text to get box, enter the number of characters to be retrieved.

  5. In the Populate variable with result box, select the variable to populate.

  6. To set the Description tab properties, refer to Description Tab Options.

  7. To set the Error Causes and On Error tab properties, refer to Step Error Handling.

  8. When finished, click OK to save settings and close the properties dialog window.
