The Get Terminal Text action is used to retrieve the text from a terminal in an established terminal session, and place the text into a variable. The terminal session must be created in an earlier step using the Connect Terminal action, and the variable must be created using a Create Variable action.
Terminal actions are used to automate legacy systems without the use of terminal emulation software.
From the Task Builder Available Actions pane, open the Terminal folder and double-click the Get Terminal Text action or drag it into the Steps pane.
In the Text to get box, select Current line, Entire screen, Specific line, or Range.
For specific line, enter the line number in the Line box.
For range, enter the beginning row, ending row, beginning column, and ending column in the applicable boxes.
In the Place buffer into variable box, select the variable in which to place the text.
In the Session name box, enter the session name. If your task has only one terminal session and you did not change the default session name when you created it (recommended), you can use the default entry.
To set the Description tab properties, refer to Description Tab Options.
To set the Error Causes and On Error tab properties, refer to Step Error Handling.
When finished, click OK to save settings and close the properties dialog window.
