Compare Files Action—Setting Properties

The Compare Files action compares two files with respect to size, CRC/hash, attributes, or the date created, modified, or accessed. If the files do not match the step fails.

To set Compare Files properties

  1. From the Task Builder Available Actions pane, open the (draftnote: which?) folder and double-click the Compare Files action or drag it into the Steps pane.

  2. In the File A box, click the Open Folder button , navigate to the first file, and click Open.

  3. In the File B box, click the Open Folder button, navigate to the second file, and click Open.

  4. In the Compare type box, select the property to compare.

  5. For CRC/hash comparison, select the algorithm in the Algorithm box. The list is arranged from fastest/least-secure to slowest/most-secure.

  6. If you want to use a custom description, click the Description tab, select Use custom step description, and type the description. This description will display in the Steps pane in place of the default description.

  7. To set error handling, refer to Step Error Handling.

  8. Click OK when finished.
