Select Tree Item Action—Setting Properties

The Select Tree Item action is used to select an item in a tree view. You can use wildcard characters when designating the selection to indicate any selection containing a particular word or text string.

Important: Only standard Windows controls will work with the Select Tree Item action. Many applications use images or other controls that may act like Windows controls but do not support the interfaces required to detect them. The Select Tree Item action will not work with these controls. In these cases other interactivity actions must be used, such as the Move Mouse and Click Mouse actions.

To enter Select Tree Item properties

  1. From the Task Builder Available Actions pane, open the Interactivity folder and double-click the Select Tree Item action or drag it into the Steps pane.

  2. In the Action box, select one of the following:

  3. In the Text of item to select box, enter the text to look for. Use wildcard characters asterisk (*) or question mark (?) when entering partial item text. For example, *2007* would designate any or all items containing 2007.

  4. If possible, open the window containing the list you want to use. Then drag the AutoMate icon to the list. This will automatically populate the object description. If you cannot use the actual window containing the list, use a similar one and then edit the object description per the next step. You can also drag the AutoMate icon to the window that contains the object, and then click the Browse button and use the tree structure to find and select the object.

  5. If you need to make changes to the auto-populated properties, click Edit and change the properties according to the following guidelines:

The properties are as follows:

  1. If you want to specify or return the indentation level of the items, click the Advanced tab and enter the properties as follows:

  2. To set the Description tab properties, refer to Description Tab Options.

  3. To set the Error Causes and On Error tab properties, refer to Step Error Handling.

  4. When finished, click OK to save settings and close the properties dialog window.
