The Cells to Dataset action is used to take data from cells in an Excel worksheet and copy it into a dataset. The worksheet must be open in an existing Excel session that was created in an earlier step using an Open Workbook or Create Workbook action.
Note: You must have Microsoft Excel licensed and installed on your system to use any of the AutoMate Excel actions.
From the Task Builder Available Actions pane, open the Excel folder and double-click the Cells to Dataset action or drag it into the Steps pane.
In the Session name box, enter the session name. If your task has only one Excel session and you did not change the default session name when you created it (recommended), you can use the default entry.
In the Create and populate dataset box, enter the name of the dataset to create.
To select the cells by position, enter the row and column
numbers in the applicable boxes.
To select the cells by Excel reference (such as A1-D5 or B5-E20), click Cell by reference and enter the references in the Start cell reference and End cell reference boxes.
To use a worksheet other than the currently active one, click Use specific worksheet and enter the worksheet name in the corresponding box.
To set the Description tab properties, refer to Description Tab Options.
To set the Error Causes and On Error tab properties, refer to Step Error Handling.
When finished, click OK to save settings and close the properties dialog window.
