Check Email for Different Subjects

added on May 26, 2006 by Marjo Martinez (marjo.martinez@helpsystems.com)
Applies To: AutoMate 6, AutoMate 5

This task will check email using the "POP3 E-mail" action and populate the specified dataset with email variables. The dataset has been named mymail. When this action is run, it will list the available dataset variables which can be looped through. A "Loop Dataset" action is used to loop through the variables in the dataset created by the "POP3 E-mail" action. (For help on datasets, please refer to the AutoMate Help File. From the Contents tab, navigate to AutoMate -> Advanced -> Using Datasets)

The dataset used to check subjects of messages is "mymail.Subject." An IF conditional is used to evaluate mymail.Subject to see if the subject is test1. If it is, a message dialog is displayed. Another IF conditional is used to evaluate mymail.Subject again to see if the subject is test2. If it is, then another message dialog is displayed.

Note: In order for this sample to work properly, you wil need to modify the "POP3 E-mail" action's settings and send a few emails with the subject test1 and test2 to yourself before executing the task.

Round up to Whole Number Using VB Round() Function 4/24/17Leonard Amabile

The VB round() function, by default rounds to the nearest whole number based on the following: 10.00 through 10.50 = 10 10.51 through 10.99 = 11 There are scenarios where you want to round up all decimal values to the nearest whole number. Based on the above criteria, adding 0.5 to any numeric value with a decimal will cause the round() function to round up. For example: 10.00 + .50 = 10 round(10.5) 10.10 + .50 = 11 round(10.6) 10.90 + .50 = 11 round(11.4) The attached tasks will demonstrate the round() function usage to round up numeric values.

Count Rows in TXT/CSV using Regular Expression 5/15/15Valentineo McGowan

I have a *.txt or *.csv containing column headers and X rows of data. Using RegEx the task simply counts the number of rows based on carriage returns. Great for csv files that have X amount of records and you simply need a total count of rows minus the headers.

Instead of POP3, can you use SNMP to read email, detect a download link, click on that link to download a file.

I'm trying this in AutoMate10. The example doesn't contain Certificate or Passphrase in Create Session, but this version does. Getting error message: The passphrase contains an unescaped percentage sign or syntax error in the embedded function. I have nothing in the Passphrase field, so there's no percentage sign. What goes in this field? Thanks.
