The Automation Wheel Keeps on Turning

It’s near impossible to reinvent the wheel. The potters and chariot manufacturers of Mesopotamia did quite a good job more than 5,500 years ago.  Now, our daily lives wouldn’t be able to function without them, from cars to watches to computers. Try buying a vowel without one.  But, there is the ever present thirst to build a better mouse-trap, or, in this case, a better wheel. We’re not out to replace bicycles or wheelbarrows, but instead use the wheel to help illustrate AutoMate and AutoMate BPA Server’s credentials as automation platforms

But what exactly is an automation platform? An automation platform allows for the rapid development, deployment and management of automation assets. An automation asset is a unique, identifiable automated process delivering operational value. So what are the key elements of an automation platform?

  • Allows for the development and deployment of countless automation assets
  • Eliminates the need for programming or scripting for automation development
  • Employs sophisticated, easy-to-use, drag-and-drop methods to create automation
  • Integrates existing and market-popular technologies into integrated workflows
  • Allows existing code-based assets to be integrated with new automation assets
  • Provides intelligent monitoring and management of automation assets
  • Allows automation assets to be stored in repository and re-used in the development of new automation assets
  • Provides IDE-like debugging and diagnostic capabilities for effective testing and maintenance of automation assets
  • Provides evident and significant productivity and time-to-market advantages over scripting/coding approaches
  • Extends an organization’s ability to create timely automation across its 1) on-premise, server-based systems, 2) Internet-SaaS systems and 3) cloud-based systems.

That’s a pretty healthy checklist, and hopefully it conveys our commitment to delivering world-class automation value to our customers.

Recently our marketing folks developed the Automation Wheel as a way to communicate the scope of what our automation platforms can deliver. The essential idea here is that the same system you use to rapidly develop FTP automation can be used for Active Directory administration, SharePoint support, EC2 provisioning, VMware console operations and much more. All while integrated into manageable tasks and workflows.

Automation Wheel

Automation products that do not encompass all these elements run the risk of being less effective, and unable to meet the stringent demands of today’s thirst for executable, app-like processes. So challenge us to show to your satisfaction that our products can deliver all the elements in an automation platform.

Whether you have already witnessed the benefits of AutoMate, or are just considering us for the first time, make sure you ask your Sales Person and Automation Systems Engineer for a complete demonstration of the platform. By taking a complete trip around the Automation Wheel, you might just find multiple areas where you can deliver operational value to your organization. Empowering AutoMate users to consistently deliver more operational value, faster and in a more manageable fashion is our prime objective.

We invite you to go ahead, and give the AutoMate wheel a spin.
