Janelle's Interview Picture

Janelle you are the eyes and ears of our company's operation. How do you do it?
I stress out a lot! (Laughing) I'm kidding. No, I usually juggle ten things at a time but my number one rule is to try to do just one task at a time. If not you have ten things started and nothing finished. If I can delegate I will. But the majority of the time you just have to prioritize what's important for the business' needs.

What was your initial position when you started with Network Automation, Inc.?
I started in data entry doing some light accounting and shipping. We were a lot smaller back when we were called Unisyn Software.

How long have you been with the company?
5 ½ challenging and rewarding years.

What are some of the daily challenges you face?
Oh wow! There's a lot! When you have ten things going on at the same time and something important comes up, you may not have done it before but you need to learn it fast and make the right decision on it. That's when it's the toughest.

What's the most misunderstood aspect of your job?
That I'm strict. I don't want to be perceived this way. I'm an office manager and part of my job is to listen to the employee's concerns, but sometimes you just can't agree with them or do what they want because of company policy and job circumstances. It's not me; it's just the nature of the work.

If you had a bigger budget you would...?
I would do everything that the employees wanted from free lunch everyday to providing endless benefits. We are pretty spoiled over here as it is! We don't have the big stuff yet but we are working on that.

What do you use for an organizer?
Post it notes! I love them! They are the love of my life. I love that they're yellow so they can blink at me and say, "You need to do this!"

How do you like the new office?
I like it! I have this huge space now and it's so nice. I have this big table for my paperwork and I love the ceiling - it's just like home. It's not like before in the old office where it would echo and the other person couldn't hear you on the phone. Here is perfect. I get my own elf space!

Have you ever given anyone in the office a dare?
No, but I did dare myself by taking this position if I could do it or not. When Dustin offered the position I said," No way! No way!" because I saw my previous boss and she was just so busy all the time. And I kept looking at her and I would say, "I don't want her job." But you know, I gave it a shot and I'm proud of it because I'm here doing all this work that I didn't think I could do.

Okay Janelle let's get personal...

Manila, Philippines

What's something your coworkers don't know about you?
I don't know. I think they know everything about me. I have no secrets at all... This is my second home I'm so comfortable here.

If you had one Super Power what would it be?
I would be invisible. When I'm super busy I would like to be invisible just doing my work.

A Yellow Mini Cooper

How many times a year do you travel to Las Vegas?
I have only been twice this year so I'm not doing very well. Usually I go 5 to 7 times in a year.

American Idol! But I only like it for the auditioning part. That's the best part! I get really bored when they're performing on stage every night. Any reality TV shows that has auditioning I like.

Jim Carrey cracks me up! I would bring Dumb and Dumber, Liar Liar, and my DVD that has all my home movies from Hawaii.

At the beach or on my couch

"Fantasy" job?
Professional Gambler

When I retire I will...
Have a small house by the beach with palm trees as far as I can see on a tropical island where I can sleep overnight outside. I just want a simple life.
