Log on to a Linux box using the VT220

by Joe Kosco, in Task or Workflow of the Month, posted 4/14/06

This task shows you how to log on to a Linux box (or some other non-windows machine) using the VT220 terminal emulation. It can only be run using Enterprise. The terminal actions are used in lieu of terminal emulation software. Using the terminal actions, legacy systems can be automated in the background without the use of 3rd party software.

Normally, to begin a transaction with a terminal, you need to initially use the 'Connect Terminal' action. This step is always used in conjunction with the other terminal actions such as 'Get Terminal Text' and 'Send Terminal Text.' In order to disconnect the current terminal session, make sure to end your task with a 'Disconnect Terminal' action.
