In addition to the powerful capabilities found in AutoMate 6, AutoMate 7 encompasses a variety of new actions designed to automate Twitter and Instant Message operations, web service activities, Active Directory management and XML manipulation, just to name a few. This article will provide important information and illustrated instructions regarding the installation of AutoMate 7.

AutoMate 7’s product line includes three editions;

  1. Professional Edition - The base version of AutoMate 7 designed to perform most automated desktop processes.
  2. Premium Edition - Includes all of the functionality found in the Professional Edition along with SNMP, Terminal Emulation, Active Directory, MSMQ and Runtime support.
  3. Runtime Edition – A non-GUI component used for the execution of tasks on remote machines constructed and deployed by the Premium Edition component. AutoMate 7 Runtimes replace AutoMate 6 Agents.

It is important to note that the file used to install any of the above mentioned editions is identical. The component to be installed is detemined exclusively by the serial number entered during the setup process. If no serial number is entered (such as product installation for the purpose of evaluation), an unrestricted (time limited) 30 day evaluation version of AutoMate 7 Premium Edition is automatically installed.

A Runtime Edition evaluation version is not available. However, for those who wish to evaluate Automate’s deployment and Runtime capabilities, another 30 day evaluation version of AutoMate 7 Premium can be installaed separately on another machine and can act as a Runtime.

When you begin the installation of AutoMate 7, the first screen that appears is titled “Welcome to the AutoMate 7 Installation Wizard” (as shown below). At this point, make sure that all Windows programs are closed before continuing installation. Click Next to advance to the next screen.

The "License Agreement" screen appears next (as illustrated below). It is important to read this information in its entirety. After you have read and agreed to the information, click Next.

NOTE: You must have administrator rights in order to install the software for anyone who uses the computer.

The "Remote Access Information" screen (shown below) appears only if the serial number previously entered relates to an AutoMate Runtime installation. This allows you to enter a password which will later be used to connect to this Runtime. Click Next to continue.
