Actions & Activities

AutoMate provides an incredibly easy-to-use, intuitive interface for developing automation applications. The basic building blocks are called actions and activities, which are plain-English, drag-and-drop, fill-in-the-blank tools developers use to build AutoMate Tasks. Actions/activities enable the development of sophisticated automation processes and eliminate the need for code. You could think of them as the steps that perform the actual work of a task. You simply drag-and-drop actions/activities in AutoMate Task Builder to build a series of AutoMate steps which collectively make up the task. You can view all available actions from the Task Builder's Available Actions pane (shown below), which holds 300+ available actions and activities categorized into folders. You build a task by dragging actions from the Available Actions list into the Steps pane of the Task Builder window. For more information, see Adding Task Steps.

AutoMate actions are organized in groups (or categories) to facilitate the development process. Some actions may be categorized into separate sub-actions called activities. Actions and activities perform operations such as starting applications, sending keystrokes, clicking controls, uploading files, and much more. They can be further expanded by the use of variables , constants, and expressions.
