WFD Output/Shared Objects Pane

The Output/Shared Objects pane of the WFD is designed to provide a suitable way to debug a workflow during its construction. This area is also used to create shared variables, arrays and/or datasets, allowing such items to be made accessible to all objects that reside in that workflow.

The Output/Shared Objects pane normally contains 4 tabs (as illustrated below). If the current workflow contains a sub-workflow (or embedded workflow), selecting the icon associated to that workflow from the workspace adds a new Preview tab. This provides an easy way to preview the contents of the embedded workflow without actually opening it. The preview image is displayed in the Output/Shared Objects window pane.

A Zoom tool is positioned directly below the Output/Shared Objects pane (also illustrated below). This slider can be used to zoom in and out of the workspace. The border between the Output/Shared Objects pane and Workspace pane can be used to modify the size of each section. This is useful for allowing more work area space when working with a large workflow or allowing a larger display are for the Output/Shared Objects pane when previewing a sub-workflow.

*Click a specific tab in the image below to view more details.

Output Tab

Displays a log of the workflow in real-time as it executes when it is run manually (as shown below). This acts much like the Output window in the Server Management Console and used mainly as a workflow debugging tool. For more details, see Workflow Output Tab.

Shared Variables Tab

Allows objects in the same workflow to share variables. Shared variables provide a means to store and change information dynamically throughout the course of a workflow. Right-click the tab to create a new shared variable or edit/delete an existing one. For more details, see About Shared Variables.

Shared Arrays Tab

Allows objects in the same workflow to share arrays, providing a means to store and change information dynamically throughout the course of a workflow. Right-click the tab to create a new shared array or edit/delete an existing one. For more details, see About Shared Arrays.

Shared Datasets Tab

Allows objects in the same workflow to share datasets, providing a means to store and change information dynamically throughout the course of a workflow. Right-click the tab to create a new shared dataset or edit/delete an existing one. For more information, see About Shared Datasets.
