The web interface places very few limits on client functionality. In addition, browser applications typically require little or no disk space and no upgrade procedure since all new features are implemented on the server. As a result, more and more of today's organizations are migrating to web-based applications. With AutoMate's new Web Browser action, you can create intelligent web automation tasks that perform common to complex web based operations, such as web navigation, data transfer, web data extraction, reports downloads and data placement (to name a few).
The new VMWare actions contain a library of activities that allow you to automate virtual machine operations on VMware Servers or VMware Workstations, enabling complete automation of your virtual platform. AutoMate's VM activities are categorized into VM Host and VM Guest operations. Common host operations include connection to a host, registering virtual machines, starting or resuming a VM, installing VMware Tools in a virtual machine, powering off or suspending a virtual machine, taking a snapshot and reverting to a snapshot. Common guest OS operations include the ability to create directories, copy files to/from a guest OS, retrieve a list of directories, execute programs, run scripts, capture screen images, manage processes and much more.
Microsoft SharePoint is emerging as one of the more powerful tools for companies that need to design and implement enterprise-scale solutions to meet business-critical needs. SharePoint solutions include managing content, administering business processes and streamlining how people find and share information across the network. AutoMate's SharePoint action is composed of over 40 activities which can automate common to comprehensive SharePoint operations. AutoMate's SharePoint activities gives you power to automate the creation of sites, creation of groups, management of role assignments, creation of lists, adding attachments to those lists, getting item details, downloading files, and so much more.
AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) is a specification for EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) between organizations using HTTP or HTTPS to transmit data over the Internet. The AS2 standard allows businesses to use a common, single communications solution for added security and elimination of complexities and costs involved when different businesses in a network use different transfer protocols. Security is achieved by using digital certificates and encryption. AutoMate's AS2 activities allows you to build tasks that automate the most common EDI/AS2 operations such as Create Message, Decode/Verify Message, Send Message and Verify Receipt.
The new File eXchange Protocol (FXP) activity allows you to automate the copying of files from one FTP server to another (two remote hosts). FXP eliminates the tedious process of transferring files from one FTP server to your local machine then to the second FTP server. The data transfer rate is also independent of your own Internet connection speed as it is based on the connection speed between the two hosts, which is usually much faster than a user's own Internet connection.
You can achieve a higher level of data visualization in Server Management Console by using Real-Time Dashboards. Dashboards are extensive gauges that closely imitate real-life gauges - circular, angular, linear, thermometer, digital and so on. You can quickly and easily create user interfaces imitating comprehensive dashboards, dials and indicators. A variety of presets allow you to create gauges on the fly and fashion them to your liking.
The Execution Calendar provides a timetable format that supplies detailed information about the results of previously executed workflows as well as ones that are scheduled to run in the future (with the use of a Schedule condition). The Task Execution Calendar's format is similar to MS Office Calendar's design, which enables you to quickly select a day, week, or month to view in the main viewing area. Dates that are displayed in bold type indicate that there is at least one task item for that day.
Task Builder menus and toolbars have been replaced with the Ribbon, a contextual interface designed to help you quickly find the commands that you need to perform during task construction. The Ribbon spans the top of Task Builder and is filled with graphical representations of control elements which are grouped by different functionality. The Ribbon brings the most common commands to the forefront, in plain sight, so you no longer have to roam aimlessly through the clutter of menus, submenus and toolbars searching for what you want.
Many actions are now activities consolidated into a single action. For example, individual FTP actions such as FTP Logon, FTP Upload, FTP Download, etc. are now activities combined into a single FTP action. The properties dialog for the new multi-activity actions are totally re-designed to support resizing, allowing you to view more (or less) data. Along with tab controls, the new dialog also includes "expanders" which are sophisticated header controls that you can expand to show more content or collapse to hide the content. This enables you to easily find and create task steps with the use of a single dialog window.
Task Builder Regions are a great way to manage and separate sections of your task. With regions, you can categorize specific task steps based on some common functionality. You can use regions to better organize your task by expanding the steps that you need to focus on while the rest may be collapsed and hidden from view. They are particularly handy when your task contains a significantly large amount of steps that you may wish to format into sections.
The Task Builder's My Actions panel puts recently used actions, your favorite actions and actions you use the most often within easy reach. That way, you don't have to remember or type anything. Just switch to the My Actions panel and select the desired action from your Favorites, Recent or Popular list. Together with the new Multi-Activity framework, the My Actions panel greatly improves a user's ability to organize actions and place them into easy to locate blocks of functionality.
AutoMate has a new way of organizing and structuring tasks with the use of Task Functions and Task Variables. Task Functions have the ability to provide logical structure to an otherwise disorganized collection of task steps or statements as well as supply variable protection and modularity. The Task Builder's Steps pane supplies a new panel that allows you to define functions with arguments and access attributes. Task variables are visible to all functions within a task. They provide a means of sharing common data between more than one function. The Task Builder's Steps pane contains a new panel that allows you add, edit and delete task variables.
AutoMate's Compress Files and Decompress Files actions now supports compressing and decompressing files over 2GB in size. The improved compression engine als and newer operating systems with UAC (User Account Control) enabled.
