EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud)

Description

Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) presents a true virtual computing environment, allowing you to use web service interfaces to launch instances with a variety of operating systems, load them with your custom application environment, manage your network’s access permissions, and run your image using as many or few systems as you desire.

IMPORTANT: The EC2 activities are performed using Amazon's EC2 engine. You must enter a valid Amazon EC2 service account in order for these activities to work properly.

Available Activities

The following table briefly describes the available activities for this action arranged in alphabetical order. Click the appropriate link for more details regarding each activity.

Activity
Description

EC2 - Allocate Address

Allocates an EC2 elastic IP address and populates a variable with the results.

EC2 - Associate Address

Associates an elastic IP address with an instance.

EC2 - Attach Volume

Attaches an Amazon EBS (Elastic Block Store) volume to a running instance and exposes it as the specified device.

EC2 - Authorize Security Group

Either gives one or more CIDR (Classless Inter-Domain Routing) IP address ranges permission to access a security group in your account, or gives one or more security groups (called the source groups) permission to access a security group in your account.

EC2 - Create Key Pair

Creates a new 2048-bit RSA key pair with the specified name. The public key is stored by Amazon EC2 and the private key is saved to the file path you specify.

EC2 - Create Security Group

Creates an EC2 Security Group, which is basically a set of firewall rules that can be applied to EC2 instances.

EC2 - Create Session

Creates a unique session which can be used to associate subsequent Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) steps.

EC2 - Create Snapshot

Creates a snapshot of an Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) volume and stores it in Amazon S3. You can use snapshots for backups, to make identical copies of instance devices, and to save data before shutting down an instance.

EC2 - Create Volume

Creates a new Amazon EBS (Elastic Block Store) volume to which any Amazon EC2 instance can attach within the same Availability Zone.

EC2 - Delete Key Pair

Deletes the named key, purging the public key from Amazon EC2.

EC2 - Delete Security Group

Deletes a security group that you own.

EC2 - Delete Snapshot

Deletes a snapshot of an Amazon EBS (Elastic Block Store) volume that you own.

EC2 - Delete Volume

Deletes an Amazon EBS (Elastic Block Store) volume that you own.

EC2 - Detach Volume

Detaches an Amazon EBS (Elastic Block Store) volume from an instance.

EC2 - Disassociate Address

Disassociates the specified elastic IP address from the instance to which it is assigned.

EC2 - End Session

Ends an EC2 session created by a previous Create Session step.

EC2 - Launch Instance

Launches a specified number of instances of an AMI (Amazon Machine Image) for which you have permissions.

EC2 - List Addresses

Populates a dataset with a list of all available elastic IP addresses.

EC2 - List Images

Lists elastic IP addresses assigned to your account or provides information about a specific address.

EC2 - List Key Pairs

Returns information about key pairs available to you and populates a dataset with the results.

EC2 - List Running Instances

Retrieves all running instances and populates a dataset with the results

EC2 - List Security Groups

Returns information about security groups that you own and populates a dataset with the results.

EC2 - List Snapshots

Retrieves the indicated snapshot or all snapshots and populates a dataset with the results.

EC2 - List Volumes

Lists the specified Amazon EBS volumes that you own and populates a dataset with the results.

EC2 - Reboot Instance

Requests a reboot of an instance.

EC2 - Release Address

Releases an elastic IP address associated with your EC2 account.

EC2 - Revoke Security Group

Revokes permissions from a security group.

EC2 - Start Instance

Starts an instance that uses an Amazon EBS volume as its root device. Use the Stop Instance activity to stop an EC2 instance.

EC2 - Stop Instance

Stops an instance that uses an Amazon EBS (Elastic Block Store) volume as its root device.

EC2 - Terminate Instance

Shuts down one or more EC2 instances.
