SMC Main Window Pane

The SMC's Main Window Pane (top right pane) is the area where users will perform the majority of their SMC related operations. When a feature is selected from the left Navigation Pane, the main window pane becomes populated with that feature's corresponding options and functions. For example, the illustration above shows the available workflows populated in the main window as a result of the Workflows tab being selected from the left pane. Additionally, the Header panel becomes populated with the buttons and options (i.e. Run button can be used to manually run a workflow) corresponding to workflow operations, settings and properties.

Header Panel

The SMC's Header is situated directly above the Main Window Pane. This panel contains the buttons and controls which are used to perform specific actions on an object or item. For instance, clicking the New button creates a new workflow, task, condition or other available object. Clicking the Run button manually runs the selected object(s). Other buttons perform actions that modify the overall look of the SMC. For example, Autohide buttons to minimize the overall size of this and other sections of the SMC. ion, dictate how items that appear in the Main Window Pane should be viewed or categorized and a Help button. The sample illustration below points out some buttons that may be harder to detect than others. It also shows the options available when clicking the More button.

Common Header Controls

The buttons, controls and options that appear in the Header panel (located directly above the Main Window Pane) vary depending on which section of the SMC you are currently located in. However, some buttons appear on every section. These buttons are described in the table below.

Forward/Back Buttons

  • Tiles View - Provides a visual balance between graphical and textual information. Object name is displayed along with large icon.

  • List View - Objects are displayed in a vertical list along with a small icon

  • Grid View - Displays a grid view with a list of details (i.e. Object name, Type, Started on, Ended on, Result, Created by, Created on, and much more).

Filter Dialog

The SMC's Main Window Pane includes a Filter by Name feature allowing an easy way to search for existing Repository objects by entering the object's assigned name. This is specially useful when objects are placed in folders/subfolders and may not be accessible directly from the Main Window Pane. The Filter function provides dynamic filtering that allows entry of part or all of an object's name to view only objects with  names that contain matching text. The list of found objects are updated as each character is typed. The Filter function embedded in sub-folders can be searched from the top-most folder.

Primary Workspace

The primary work area is the section where users will be performing most interactions. This section contains graphical icons and visual indicators representing the AutoMate BPA objects available to a user. Actions can be performed on these graphical elements by selecting specific commands from the Header panel.

Objects that appear in the workspace can be displayed in a number of ways by clicking the View button.

In addition, clicking the Group button allows objects to be displayed in related sets of groups.

Right-click Menu

Right-clicking an object populated inside the primary workspace provides a right-click menu that allows an easy way to run, rename, delete, disable/enable an object or edit its properties.

Right-clicking an empty section of the primary workspace provides another pop-up menu allowing other commands and operations that mainly relate to modifying or refreshing the current view.

Details Panel

The Details panel supplies important details in regards to the currently selected object. Information that appears in this panel are Object name, Type, Started on, Ended on, Result, Created by, Created on.

NOTE: This panel can be minimized to provide for a larger workspace by clicking the Minimize button. The border that separates the Main window pane and Output/Execution Status pane (located directly below the Details panel) can be used to change the height of each pane.
