Server Settings

Server settings can be set to direct AutoMate BPA Server's behavior in regards to handling various operations. To access server properties, from the SMC's Navigation Pane, click the Options tab and select Server Settings. The main viewing area becomes populated with available server settings (as shown below). Double-click the desired setting to view or edit its attributes. Here, you can set BPA Server's default mail settings, create SQL connection string(s), set user and system permissions, create constants and more.

Available Server Settings

The table below lists the available server settings (in alphabetical order) along with a brief description for each. For more help, click the associated link.




Allows you to create and define constants configured for use on an agent machine.

Data Store

AutoMate BPA Server uses  Microsoft SQL Express as its default data store. However, data can electively be written to another external data source such as Oracle or mySQL. Database modifications can be performed within the Data Store properties.

IP Blocking

Used to set IP addresses or ranges that should be allowed or disallowed to communicate with the server.

Load Management

Sets how many workflows can run simultaneously on the system.

Log Management

Determine whether logged execution data should be cleared within a specific time period and what time period should be set.


Specifies the email server that BPA's internal email client should connect to for outgoing emails as well as the username/password that it should authenticate with.

SQL Connections

Used to configure a pre-defined SQL connection that can be called from any Open SQL Connection step of any task.


Determines whether Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is used to encrypt all TCP/IP connections between AutoMate Server, connected Agents and the Server Management Console.


Specifies the staging level of a workflow. Also allows workflows to run when equal to or greater than a particular stage.

System Security

Sets the permissions that users or groups have on the system.
