Customizing Task Builder Toolbars

The Task Builder's header displays a Ribbon by default. However, you have the option to switch to a Menu/Toolbar display as explained here. If set to the Menu/Toolbar display, the toolbar generally contains a set of standard buttons that are shown by default. You can customize toolbars to display only the buttons you want to use or to add additional buttons. You can also create additional toolbars.  

To add or remove default buttons on a toolbar:

  1. Click the down arrow at the right end of the toolbar you wish to customize.

  2. Click Add or Remove Buttons.

  3. Click the name of the button you want to add or remove.

To create a new toolbar:

  1. Click the down arrow at the right end of any toolbar

  2. Click Add or Remove Buttons.

  3. Click Customize. A Customize dialog box appears.

  1. Select the Toolbars tab (shown below)

  1. Click New to add a new toolbar

  2. Type a name for the toolbar and click OK.

    The new toolbar will appear floating over the window. You can drag it to a location in the window heading if desired.

  3. Click the Commands tab (shown below)

  1. On the left pane of the dialog box, select a category.

  2. Scroll through the list of commands on the right to find the button or built-in menu and drag it onto the toolbar.

  3. When finished, click Close.

To add or remove buttons on a toolbar

  1. Click the down arrow at the right end of any toolbar.

  2. Click Add or Remove Buttons.

  3. Click Customize.

  4. Click the Commands tab.

  5. In the left pane of the dialog box, select a category. Then scroll through the list on the right to find the button or built-in menu you want to add.

  6. Click and drag each button you want to add onto the toolbar.

  7. To remove a button, drag it off the toolbar.

  8. When you are finished, click Close.

To hide or show preset or custom toolbars:

  1. Follow the above instructions to navigate to the Toolbars tab of the Customize dialog.

  2. Un-check the toolbar(s) you wish to hide

  3. Add a check to the toolbar(s) you wish to show.

  4. Click Close, when finished.

To change the placement of toolbars:

To return a standard toolbar to the default setting:

  1. Click the down arrow at the right end of the toolbar.

  2. Click Add or Remove Buttons.

  3. Click Reset toolbar.

Note: This procedure does not apply to custom toolbars.

Personalized menus, animation and other options:

A number of other options are available geared to allow you to fully personalize and customize the Task Builder, such as allowing the ability to change the toolbar icon size, select menu animation, show/hide tooltips and much more. To access these options:

  1. Click the down arrow at the right end of any toolbar.

  2. Click Add or Remove Buttons.

  3. Click Customize.

  4. Click the Options tab (shown below)

  5. Perform the desired changes and click Close thereafter.
