The FTP Download action is used to download files from an FTP server. The FTP Log On action must be used first to begin the FTP transaction and connect with the server.
From the Task Builder Available Actions pane, open the Internet\FTP folder and double-click the FTP Download action or drag it into the Steps pane.
In the Remote file box, enter the fully qualified UNIX path and file name for the files to be downloaded, or click the Open Folder button , click Connect, and use the FTP browser to navigate to the file or folder. You can use asterisk (*) and question mark (?) as wildcard characters. Separate multiple entries with a pipe symbol (|). Example: /sourcefoldername/filename.txt|/sourcefoldername/*.doc
In the Local files box, enter the path and (optionally) the file name for the destination location, or click the Open Folder button and navigate to the file or folder. Folders that do not exist will be created at runtime.
In the Session name box, enter the name of the FTP transfer session. The name is set in the FTP Log On action.
Click the Options tab and select or clear the check boxes according to the following guidelines:
Include sub folders: includes the subfolders of the selected source folder. If this is not selected, the files stored directly in the selected folder will be downloaded and the subfolders will be ignored.
Preserve folder structure: maintains the folder structure for the included subfolders as it exists in the source location. If this is not selected, files downloaded from the subfolders are stored in the parent folder.
Only folder structure: preserves the folder structure for the subfolders, but does not download the files within the subfolders.
Overwrite existing files: overwrites any existing files that have the same names as the specified destination files. If this is not selected, files that already exist are skipped, and if all destination files exist the step fails.
Only if exists in destination: downloads only files that already exist in the destination location. Ignores all other files in the selected source folder.
Resume download: if supported by the FTP server, resumes a download that was started previously and interrupted.
In the Transfer type box, select ASCII if you are downloading text files and want to use ASCII. The default is Binary.
In the Exclude mask box, enter the names of any files or folders you want to exclude from the download. You can use asterisk (*) and question mark (?) as wildcard characters. Separate multiple entries with a pipe symbol (|).
To set the Description tab properties, refer to Description Tab Options.
To set the Error Causes and On Error tab properties, refer to Step Error Handling.
When finished, click OK to save settings and close the properties dialog window.
