Facebook Authentication Dialog

Automating some of the more repetitive Facebook related tasks can help you be more productive and efficient with the execution of your social media strategy. The Facebook action enables automation of various Facebook activities such as updating status, uploading photos, searching posts and retrieving analytics. It is designed to help you deliver and retrieve Facebook content effectively, saving you time and overall, improving your marketing efforts.

When someone connects with an application using Facebook Login, the application will be able to obtain an access token which provides temporary, secure access to Facebook APIs. In order to use AutoMate as the application to access Facebook APIs, it must initially be registered in order to obtain an access token. The Get token button located in the general properties of relevant Facebook activities opens a separate window titled Facebook Authentication Dialog allowing you to log into your Facebook account to complete the token exchange. This is a one-time-only procedure. Once authenticated, the information will be stored in your system and accessed only during execution of any Facebook activities that require authentication. For those that are new to Facebook and currently lack a Facebook user account, this dialog can also be used to create and register new accounts.

Using Facebook Authentication Dialog

The Facebook Authentication Dialog can be accessed within the properties of any Facebook activity that allows a Facebook login operation to take place. A Get token button (circled below) will be included which, when clicked, begins the authorization process in order to obtain an access token. This procedure requires a valid Facebook email address/phone number and password.

To obtain an access token:

  1. In the Email and Password properties of any relevant Facebook activity (similar to the one shown above), enter the email address and password associated to the Facebook account you want AutoMate to log in with.
  2. Click the Get token button. This will open the Facebook Authentication Dialog (shown below).

  1. If you currently don't have a Facebook account, click the Sign up for Facebook link to create a new one. Otherwise, enter the email address or phone number associated to the Facebook account in the Email or Phone parameter and enter the password associated to the Facebook account in the Password parameter. If you forgot your password, you can click the Forgot your password? link to retrieve it.
  2. To stay logged in, add a check-mark to the option Keep me logged in to AutoMate.
  3. After entering the required information, click the Log In button.
  4. A "Get token success" pop-up will appear (as shown bellow) confirming a successful token exchange. Click OK to complete the process and close the pop-up.
